NEIL O'HANLON COACHING

HELPING YOU DROP BODY FAT, GET FITTER, STRONGER & CONFIDENT BY TRAINING LESS

LESS IS MORE

My purpose is to help you get where you want to be without 'Overtraining' or creating an unhealthy and obsessive relationship with exercise. I'll help you reclaim your fitness and inner athleticism in a more structured, holistic and accountable way. There's no need for excessive amounts of exercise, giving up your favourite food and drink, and no living a life of deprivation. It's about being able to enjoy the process, regain a sense of balance as well as being consistent in your training for the long haul. The idea is to reach your full potential, without becoming physically and mentally broken. Maybe you've just started your fitness journey and want to drop a few pounds or maybe you used to be a runner back in your earlier years and now want online coaching to get fitter, faster and stronger, whilst all the time building confidence in yourself. Has injury become an issue? My aim is to help you become a more durable athlete, so that you can accomplish your fitness goals at a later age without becoming burnt-out and disheartened with unrestricted and limitless exercise dependance. This is about feeling good in a sustainable, injury and pain free way, whilst still being able to having that beer, wine, chocolate cake or whatever your thing is so you're still doing it in many years to come.

N.O.7. HEALTH COACHING

TRAIN LESS BUT SMARTER

My main focus is to show you that even in your thirties, forties, fifties and beyond, in order to get fitter, stronger and feel more confident about yourself, you probably don’t need to do as much as you might think. Less really can be more. In other words, what’s the least amount you can do, to still see results – without the need to end up overtrained or toxically addicted to exercise. My coaching is a result of over 25 years running experience and constant self experimentation. However, I’ve made some epic mistakes in this time, resulting in two ‘over exercising’ induced illnesses, including ‘Atrial Fibrillation’ and a compromised immune system both brought about by chronic inflammation due to sheer excessive volumes of unnecessary exercise. Despite this, I now feel even fitter in my mid forties, I just had to learn to train less and train smarter. I’ve kept what works and ditched the rest so I can help you avoid the mistakes I made along the way in the pursuit of optimum health and fitness. There’s no need to attend a gym, count calories or deprive yourself of having a life – yes you can still have alcohol and some of the more forbidden treats in life, it’s just a balance. It’s simple, time effective and most of all sustainable.

MAYBE YOU’RE A NEW RUNNER OR RETURNING RUNNER???….

Maybe you have a dream running goal that you’ve always wanted to accomplish? Maybe it’s to complete a marathon or half marathon. Or run a particular time in the 5k or 10k but other things have gotten in the way, such as injury, lack of time, your work schedule or family commitments? I get it. Life happens! For this to work, you need to be self motivated, disciplined, and consistent with your training. If so then I can help.

TESTIMONIALS AND A FEW KIND WORDS

“A few months ago I embarked on a programme created by N.O.7. HEALTH COACHING, a new fitness / nutrition coaching venture by Neil O'Hanlon. We set a goal for me to complete a 5k parkrun. Today, thanks to the fabulous advice and encouragement I received throughout, I achieved that goal and am totally buzzing! I have changed my approach to food, lost a lot of body fat and feel healthier than I have in a long time. The process has been totally stress free and really do-able. Thanks so much Neil"

"I have been working with Neil for the last 12 weeks and my plan has been totally unique and geared towards my specific goals. I had a holiday coming up and wanted to get to my desired weight in a more holistic and sustainable way. I can see a big difference in my shape and my fitness has increased massively. Some of the material and information from Neil has been pitched perfectly to me and of major benefit. Just enough contact, if and when needed and is absolute value for money. I am already recommending to others to sign up"

Deborah Landon, Telford
"I found the programmes tailored for me to be very useful and do-able. Plus Neil’s communication was very good and geared to me personally. I would recommend Neil, I have learned a lot and I have certainly felt a good deal of mental and physical benefit since my involvement"

"As someone who tries to keep himself reasonably fit, whilst periodically setting goals for myself, in August 2022, I gave myself a challenge of running the Wrekin Hill, non-stop from the bottom to the top in 3 months. I’d previously attempted and completed this some 20 years prior to this so was intrigued to see how it would go. After speaking with Neil about devising a training program, he truly obliged. Not only were the weekly training schedules easy to follow, he also introduced me to different breathing techniques to make the whole process easier and more enjoyable. Giving Neil honest weekly feedback with Fitbit screenshots, the following weeks schedule was adjusted and received with anticipation. Fast forward 3 months and we met at the foot of the Wrekin. I was given a target time which Neil assured me was achievable. Off we went. With the Trig-point in site, Neil gave an encouraging call, so with a final push both the Trig-point and target time was reached with time remaining. Not only did your program give me the continued solo training enthusiasm, but also helped me reach my goal and achieve it in a time that I couldn’t be more happy with. Many Thanks Neil"

"I am a 63 year old female and have been active all my adult life, mainly as a runner covering distances up to and including marathons. After turning 50 I started to suffer with pain in my hips and knees which was diagnosed as arthritis, which has steadily got worse over the years, to such an extent that I had to give up the running. I replaced running with regular walking of about 4 miles per day. The arthritis became very debilitating and resulted in my having to use a walking pole to assist me on my walks, and, also needing to have painkillers to get me through some days. I consulted with an orthopaedic surgeon about a possible hip replacement, only to discover I have other issues which need to be dealt with first as these are causing the hip and knee to appear worse than they are. He suggested yoga or palates which I had tried previously but really couldn’t get on with either. I knew I needed to do something to help improve my mobility so when I saw N.O.7. Health Coaching advertised on Facebook I decided to give it a go. I contacted Neil and became one of his first set of clients. My weekly plan started off very gently, with walking programmes and strength exercises, gradually increasing in intensity each week for the 12 weeks. After about 3 weeks I started to notice I was not experiencing so much pain in my joints and my stride was lengthening plus I was walking much faster and didn’t need the assistance of my walking pole. By week 8 or 9 I was almost running as my speed had increased so much, and hardly any pain in my joints at all and haven’t needed pain relief for weeks. I also changed my eating/exercise habits following Neil’s recommendations.I feel so much healthier and fitter than I have done for a long time"

"PAIN IS INEVITABLE - SUFFERING IS OPTIONAL"

"TRAIL RUNNING AND HIKING CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR ME.
IT MADE ME SLOW DOWN AND TAKE IN THE SURROUNDINGS.
I WAS ALWAYS CONCERNED ABOUT MY PACE AND MILEAGE ON ANY GIVEN WORKOUT, AND THIS MADE IT MORE OF A CHORE THAN A HOBBY.
IT TOOK THE FUN OUT OF IT.
I CHANGED MY MINDSET FROM "TODAY I HAVE TO RUN" TO "TODAY I GET TO RUN", AND IF THAT MEANS WALKING, THEN SO BE It. THIS MADE A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE.
I REALISED THAT PERFORMANCE WAS PROBABLY NOT THE BEST METRIC TO BASE MY LIFE ON"
