DON’T DRINK COFFEE FIRST THING

And Here’s The Reason Why

By Neil O’Hanlon

Ladies and Gents. Are you getting ready for your Saturday morning cup of coffee. If so, then it may be best to leave it a couple of hours in order to reap the maximum benefits.

Why, I hear you ask? Well, when you wake up first thing in the morning, your stress hormone ‘cortisol’ is sky high, and drinking caffeine straight away is only going to turbo charge, and rocket your cortisol levels even higher. But what has this got to do with the timing of your coffee?

Well, we all know that chronic stress contributes massively to weight gain, so it goes without saying that increasing your stress hormone in the form of cortisol can actually make your body gain even more weight, not good.

Another thing to bear in mind is, too much caffeine (along with too much stress) can take it’s toll on your adrenal glands. And poorly functioning adrenal glands, in turn, can damage the immune, cardiovascular, neurological, and endocrine systems, and, eventually, your long-term health.

The Takeaway

Ok, so that said, the best approach would be to drink your coffee when your cortisol levels start to drop, which normally happens about three hours after waking up. For many people who get up around 6:00 a.m. this time is between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. and that’s the perfect time to enjoy all the benefits that coffee has to offer.

Enjoy and stay caffeinated.
